About

This is a blog by a person with various roles, who isn’t arrogant enough to think that she transcends definition, but who doesn’t want to be reduced back to those roles, either.  Those roles include PhD study, single parenting, gardening, eating a lot when she isn’t plagued by existential problems, and looking after Sophie the rescue dog.  She benefits from education privilege and white privilege, but is marginalised due to mental health challenges, and social stigma around her current socioeconomic position.

She is concerned about authentically integrating her academic life into considerations of religious doctrines, social theory, linguistics, animal welfare issues, and science in order to contribute effectively to discourse.  Effectively, she seeks to apply her advantages to help overcome her challenges, and the challenges of others.

She has mixed success in this and welcomes engagement and dialogue, as long as it’s backed up by genuine thought.

So, welcome!  She tries not to be a jerk, and encourages you to do the same.
